What does your company do? What services or products do you provide?

Upstream is an AI-powered data intelligence platform purpose-built for connected vehicles. Founded in 2017, we help automotive OEMs, suppliers, and fleet operators turn vehicle data into actionable intelligence that solves two critical challenges: cybersecurity and quality.

On the security side, our Vehicle XDR platform detects and responds to threats across entire fleets in real-time, backed by threat intelligence from monitoring deep and dark web channels where automotive exploits are traded. We protect millions of vehicles globally through cloud-based, agentless monitoring.

On the quality side, our AI identifies component failures and warranty issues early – before they become expensive recalls – significantly reducing costs and accelerating root cause analysis. One platform ingesting telematics, diagnostics, OTA, and API data. Two massive problems solved: protecting fleets from cyber threats and catching quality issues before they escalate. No in-vehicle software required.

Why did you join COVESA and how long has your company been a member?

COVESA is where vehicle data architecture, API design, and connectivity frameworks get defined. Being at that table means we can help ensure security, threat detection, and quality monitoring are foundational.

Membership in COVESA reinforces Upstream’s commitment to advancing the entire connected vehicle ecosystem, not just selling solutions. It’s about ensuring the standards being developed today support secure, intelligent mobility systems tomorrow.

What benefits does your participation in COVESA bring to your company and business?

COVESA convenes a thought-leadership community that increases industry credibility and, more importantly, the opportunity to develop trusted relationships within the industry to make meaningful change.

Which COVESA collaborative project(s) or Birds of a Feather (BoF) is your company engaged in, and why is that beneficial to your business?

Upstream is currently engaged in cybersecurity, which is core to how our company has grown within the automotive ecosystem. As a data analytics platform, Upstream also hopes to be involved with other projects or BoFs focused on artificial intelligence, data analytics, and proactive/predictive quality detection efforts through digital twin technologies.
