COVESA All Member Meeting: Showcasing Continued Growth and Impact
Share
After a great April event in Gothenburg, Sweden, that drew over 265 participants, COVESA’s Fall event in the Detroit area shattered COVESA records with over 300 attendees for the two-day meeting (see pictures)!
We are very grateful to the awesome list of sponsors for helping make the event such a success:
In case you missed it, this event had three parallel tracks with over 50 sessions ranging from business topics like technology ecosystems and why SDV is a global opportunity to a long list of technical topics. Slide decks used for many of these sessions can be found on the Wiki.
COVESA members continued to advance Vehicle Signal Specification (VSS) as the strongest contender for the industry’s de facto specification and tooling to describe vehicle data. VSS has received significant adoption across automotive companies, including OEMs, suppliers, and silicon vendors, and is generating interest from adjacent industries like insurance, fleet management, and other vehicle data-centric businesses. While COVESA is happy with the progress and uptake, this event showed that amid great progress, there are opportunities to increase adoption, grow the ecosystem, and evolve VSS into a globally adopted offering.
While VSS progress was certainly a highlight, the event offered other technical sessions on AOSP App Framework Standardization, unlocking mobility through consented data, in-vehicle payments, and various other topics.
With a boost from COVESA’s invited Detroit area automotive audience, nearly 400 attendees enjoyed food and drink at the COVESA Showcase and Reception held Wednesday evening at a nearby converted restaurant. The relaxed atmosphere encouraged great networking between buyers and sellers, with 20 other organizations taking a table or booth during the reception. This event was highlighted by COVESA’s second presentation of the Valuable Contributor and Adopter awards during the Showcase. With the help of Board and Technical Steering Team representatives, two showcasing members received the coveted award for the adoption of COVESA output into their products and their active contributions to COVESA’s work. Join me in congratulating COVESA members aicas and RemotiveLabs for winning the award!
In summary, COVESA’s All Member Meeting in the Detroit area not only broke attendance records but significantly advanced the business and technical agendas of our members. Stay tuned for an announcement of the Spring event to be held in Europe in mid-May 2025!
