What does your company do? What services or products do you provide?

Elektrobit is the trusted partner in the transition to the software-defined vehicle (SDV). With over 35 years of award-winning automotive software expertise, Elektrobit’s innovative portfolio and comprehensive SDV ecosystem empower OEMs, Tier 1s, along with ODMs and Big Tech to build future-ready solutions with speed and confidence.

Our SDV building blocks include operating systems, middleware, embedded software, digital cockpit solutions, engineering services, and development workflows – driving faster innovation and seamless integration across the vehicle lifecycle. Elektrobit software powers over five billion devices in more than 630 million vehicles worldwide. It is a wholly owned, independently operated subsidiary of AUMOVIO.

Why did you join COVESA, and how long has your company been a member?

Elektrobit joined COVESA to collaborate with industry partners in shaping open standards and interoperable ecosystems for connected vehicles. As a long-term member since the early days of GENIVI (now COVESA), Elektrobit has consistently contributed to advancing the digital transformation of the automotive industry. Our involvement helps create harmonized data exchange models and service frameworks that enable seamless in-vehicle and cloud integration.

What benefits does your participation in COVESA bring to your company and business?

Participation in COVESA allows Elektrobit to stay at the forefront of connected vehicle innovations. By contributing to and learning from a vibrant ecosystem of industry leaders, we gain early insights into emerging standards and technologies that shape software-defined mobility. This engagement strengthens our ability to deliver interoperable solutions, forge robust partnerships across the automotive value chain, and accelerate the adoption of scalable, cloud-connected vehicle architectures.

Which COVESA collaborative project(s) or Birds of a Feather (BoF) is your company engaged in, and why is that beneficial to your business?

Elektrobit actively contributes to COVESA’s Connected Vehicle Systems and Data Models activities, including Vehicle Signal Specification (VSS), which standardizes data exchange across vehicles. These collaborations promote interoperability and open standards, enabling connected and software-defined vehicles. Participation in these initiatives strengthens our relationships with OEMs and partners while fostering innovation and alignment within the broader mobility ecosystem.

Elektrobit is actively working on Android-based Cockpit systems, specific to VHAL Generation service, awarded in the 2025 AMM meeting, fully adapted with VSS signals to make vehicle properties more customizable and standardized for application developers, and bridging SOMEIP tech-stack for ADAS applications.
